While writing the music we got inspired thinking about the sense of sacrifice, survival and revolution present in the books. It was not too hard to get into this mood, since these are issues that we are living in now, in this moment of history.

Find Out Who Designed Effie's Dress in Catching Fire

The designer of Effie's lavender dress in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was revealed in a recent report from Entertainment Weekly. The designer is none other than Alexander McQueen. The outfit was part of the Fall 2012 colletion of the popular fashion house.

“The future’s usually shown as stark and cold. I wanted lightness, the sense that the dresses were hovering,” McQueen creative director Sarah Burton told Style.com when the collection debuted last March. Burton used voluminous shapes and patterns that would organically “explode” as the runway show progressed as a means of celebrating “a beautiful future, positivity, optimism.”

Alan Ritchson Talks The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Experiences with MTV

In the recent MTV Movie Awards, Alan Ritchson, who plays District 2 tribute/victor Gloss, was able to talk about some of his experiences filming The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

“No hazing, fortunately,” he said, laughing. Instead, he described “Catching Fire” as a great place to be, adding, “But to be a part of that, it was pretty cool. Jennifer’s star just continued to rise, even through production…it was just cool to be there.”

And not only was Alan not put through the wringer by his co-stars, he said that everyone, particularly the fantabulous Stanley Tucci (with whom he did his pre-Games interview scene), was “super-generous and giving.”

Meanwhile, the actor says that the scenes he’s most looking forward to seeing on the big screen are the same one the fans are likely clamoring for: the highly anticipated action sequences from the 75th Hunger Games.

“We shot some cool scenes,” he said. “I like the really physical kind of action stuff. I spent months training for this stuff, fight training, and becoming a dagger specialist. All those things in the arena are going to be a lot of fun.”

What is The Hunger Games Explorer?

In a recent press release via PC Mag, the technology and purpose behind the newest Hunger Games website, The Hunger Games Explorer, has been revealed. Read it from the article below:

Fans of The Hunger Games may have another five months to wait before the theatrical release of the next film, but you can pass the time online with the new Hunger Games Explorer, a one-stop-shop for all things Katniss, Panem, and District 12.

Microsoft and Lionsgate have teamed up to bring the interactive world of Catching Fire directly to fans' Web browsers.

Designed to shine on Internet Explorer 10 and touch-screen tablets, The Hunger Games Explorer shows off the power of HTML5, with a full-screen experience that "superfans will love," IE marketing director Roger Capriotti told PCMag.

"It's one thing for us to create a website that has just a bunch of Hunger Games content," IE senior product manager Bryan Saftler said. "We wanted to go a whole step beyond."

Visitors can become a member of Panem by logging into the site with an email address, joining a district, finding an occupation, and receiving a citizen number. Fans can tailor and filter content in and out of the stream, and interact with people around the world to find out who's Team Gale and Team Peeta.

"We have the best fans in the world, and [now] they have a home on the Web where they can be a part of The Hunger Games experience and contribute to the excitement for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," Danielle DePalma, senior vice president of Lionsgate digital marketing, said in a statement.

The Explorer site is also the destination for official Lionsgate content, including exclusive trailers, videos, photos, and posters. There's also real-time content, culled from various social networks — Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, Google+, and Tumblr — displayed in an infinite list. Fans can also "spark" (think "liking" something on Facebook) content, helping to drive discussion on the site.

"The Hunger Games Explorer is not only a place for fans to spark the conversation around Catching Fire, it is also a destination for us to continue to provide fans with new content, experiences and unprecedented behind the scenes access," DePalma said.

Between Sunday's launch and November's Catching Fire release, the Explorer page will continue to evolve, with more original, exclusive content from Lionsgate, as well as daily padding from fans.
"We wanted to make sure that this site felt as fresh and as new as possible," Saftler said. "It's eye candy for people who like to play with a lot of content on the site."
A teaser page, launched Wednesday to whet fans' appetite, encouraged people to engage in the Games experience by tweeting messages with the hashtag #HungerGamesExplorer to help unlock new photos from the film.

"We are sparking a revolution," Capriotti said, citing the more than 200,000 unique visitors to the teaser site by Friday afternoon.

For a look at the behind-the-scenes making of The Hunger Games Explorer site, check out the IE video below.

Here's a video about The Hunger Games Explorer from Microsoft's Internet Explorer.

Elena Sanchez (Cecelia) Talks Catching Fire

Spanish actress Elena Sanchez has caught up with Desdeh and she was able to share her experiences with The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, in which she plays District 8 tribute/victor Cecelia.

What was your reaction when you found out that you have been cast in Catching Fire?

To be honest, I didn’t really believe it until my first day on set. When I got the call, after about five minutes of hyperventilating, I told myself not to get too excited. In this business there are a lot of disappointments. I kept thinking they had made some kind of mistake and were going to find someone else!

In what ways can you relate to ‘Cecelia’, your character?

Since Cecelia is only mentioned a few times in the book, the love she has for her children that are taken away from her as she is chosen for The Hunger Games kind of becomes a defining characteristic. I have never had to make that kind of sacrifice, but love for people, the world, and life is one of the most important philosophies I live by. I tried to relate to her by thinking about what it would be like to give up some of the most important things in my life, but knowing that it was for a greater cause.

How well would Elena Sanchez do in a “Hunger Games-like” event?

Well, it would all depend on my competition. But beware! I can climb on things, swing from trees, and flip around… AND I have been working on my Ninja skills!

You can read the full interview here.

Russ Bowen, a news anchor from North Carolina, has also tweeted about possible July filming of the movie. Francis Lawrence will continue to direct the Part 1 and 2 of Mockingjay with a plan release date of November 2013 and November 2014, respectively.
