Lionsgate Sues Yagoozon for Selling Unlicensed Mockingjay Pins

According to the latest report from EW, Lionsgate had sued Yagoozon for selling unlicensed Mockingjay pins that feature the symbol featured on the cover of the second book and official movie poster of Catching Fire. Moreover, EW has also mentioned THR's report that Lionsgate only allow specific third party producers like NECA (National Entertainment Collectibles Association) to sell the replica of the pins or any of the costumes used in the franchise.

Accordingly:

Per the Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate complains that only specific third parties have the rights to sell various Hunger Games items and merchandise. The National Entertainment Collectibles Association is among the licensees, and they, in fact, are OK'd to sell a replica of the Mockingjay pin.

Per Lionsgate's suit, Yagoozon tried to purchase merchandise from NECA on multiple occasions between March and April of 2012, but were refused. Then, in April, Yagoozon's CFO sent a letter to NECA, saying it was unlawful that their competition was allowed to sell Hunger Games paraphernalia while they had to sign a disclaimer not to do the same. Lionsgate later learned that the defendants were offering allegedly counterfeit Hunger Games merchandise for sale online. Later that month, NECA replied that the accusations wre unfounded and meritless.

Danny Strong Confirms He is Penning the Mockingjay Script

Few months ago, it has been rumored that Danny Strong will pen the script of Mockingjay Part 1 and 2. Weeks later Elizabeth Banks, who plays Effie in the movie franchise, mentioned Strong about the screenplay. However, Lionsgate did not released any official statement about it.

Now, in a recent interview with EW, Danny Strong have confirmed that he will write the screenplay of Mockingjay but he didn't give a lot of details.

According to him:

I can say very little about it. I was approached to pitch on it, and I just literally holed myself up for a week and came up with a presentation for two movies. I pitched my little heart out, and got the job. I literally can’t say anything else — I will just get in trouble. It’s, like, Defcon 5 on security over there. It’s really crazy.

Welcome to the fandom Mr. Strong.

Shirtless Josh Hutcherson on Catching Fire Set Again

The latest photos from the Catching Fire set that surface the internet today feature another shirtless Josh Hutcherson. For this batch, it seems that Josh was taking a break as Peeta (see an injured ear). It is not yet clear if Josh Hutcherson's tattoo will be removed on the final cut. I guess we will be able to see that next year.

Again, these photos are not for the Catching Fire movie but these feature Josh taking a break and playing frisbee. Thanks hypable and toofab for the photos.

The Hunger Games Nominated at the Grammys and the OSCARS?

Good news tributes! Accordingto HitFix, The Hunger Games was able to get two nominations for Grammy Awards. The nominations include Arcade Fire's "Abraham's Daughter" and Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars' "Safe and Sound" for the Best Song Written For Visual Media category.

The odds might not be totally on our favor since the two songs are competing with each other but it is already a big smile to fandom to have such recognition. Congratulations to Taylor Swift, Arcade Fire, The Civil Wars, the writers and especially to producer T-Bone Burnett.

Let's hope that Catching Fire will get more recognitions!

On the other hand, THR has reported that Arcade Fire's "Abraham Daughter" was listed at the top 75 nominees for the 85th Academy Awards (OSCARS). Let's hope Arcade Fire will make it to the top list.

The Hunger Games is Yahoo's Number Four Obsession in 2012

The Hunger Games was able to land at the number 4th spot of Yahoo's Obsessions in 2012. According to them:

"The Hunger Games," the first novel in the best-selling young-adult trilogy of the same name, became must-see viewing for American moviegoers. Starring Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, the film version of Suzanne Collins' 2008 novel grossed more than $400 million at the box office domestically and over $680 million worldwide since its March release.

Hardcore fans of the book were initially weary that the 20-year-old Lawrence, fresh off an Oscar-nominated performance in "Winter's Bone," would be too old to play Katniss, the book's 16-year-old protagonist.
But Lawrence proved them wrong, receiving rave reviews for her portrayal of the teenage heroine.

The list also includes the world craze Gangnam Style by Psy, Carly Rae Japsen's Call Me Maybe and a lot more. Go to this link to find out more.
