Fresh off a box office bonanza and worldwide obsession come to life, "The Hunger Games" was well represented on the orange carpet Saturday at Nickelodeon's 2012 Kids' choice Awards.
Amandla Stenberg, who plays Rue in the dystopian film, looked chic and glittering in gold Kate Spade oxfords and a sparkly black and gold dress. In light of her once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of a high profile flick, the young actress had only positive things to say about her cast when she spoke to Zap2It, yet did reveal some devious hopes for potential KCA slime victims.
"I'm really looking forward to seeing people get slimed tonight," says the 14-year old actress. "I'm hoping Alexander Ludwig, who plays Cato, will get it. We're always making fun of each other so I'll be like, 'Okay, hey, this is payback.'"
Despite this anticipated green vengeance, Stenberg also expressed a deep love for her fellow Panem dwellers.
"Working with the everyone couldn't have been better," Stenberg tells us. "We all got along great."
The impact of early success hasn't been lost on the charming starlet, as Stenberg also acknowledged the gratitude she felt for fans who'd reached out and applauded her work.
Says Stenberg, "I'm just really grateful...They're so sweet. I get so many messages from people who said I did a great job."
Following "The Hunger Games," the teen actress' next role won't be another major motion picture. Instead, Stenberg, whose name means "power" in Zulu, will be doing her part to help kids around the world.
"I'm hoping to be doing more [acting projects], but right now I'm working with a lot of charities," explains Stenberg. "One is called No Kid Hungry, and it helps to make sure all kids are getting enough to eat. I'm also helping with the Ubuntu Foundation, which helps poor kids in South Africa."
