Pictures of The Hunger Games Stars Josh Hutcherson, Jennifer Lawrence, Alexander Ludwig, and Elizabeth Banks at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards

The Hunger Games was able to scoop four out of the 10 nominations at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. These include:

  • Best Male Performance - Josh Hutcherson
  • Best Female Performance - Jennifer Lawrence
  • Bet Fight - Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence versus Alexander Ludwig
  • Best Onscreen Transformation - Elizabeth Banks

On the flipside, the Hunger Games was not able to get the Best Movie and Best Kiss awards because it has been given to the Twihards for "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1." The Best Cast and Best Hero were given to the Harry Potter family. Liam Hemsworth failed to charm the MTV organizers for Shailene Woodley was chosen as the Breakthrough Artist.

Despite the failure of the fandom to get the Best Movie, Best Cast, and Best Kiss, the Hunger Games was the biggest winner in the event. Catching Fire here we come!

Below are the pictures of Hunger Games stars Josh Hutcherson, Alexander Ludwig and Elizabeth Banks at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. Jennifer Lawrence couldn't make it in person because she is filming her new flick "Serena" in Prague but there was a recorded video for her acceptance speech.

Elizabeth Banks Wins Best Onscreen Transformation at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards

Elizabeth Banks won the Best Onscreen Transformation for her role as Effie Trinket of the Hunger Games at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. Here is her one-of-a-kind acceptance speech.

Josh Hutcherson, Jennifer Lawrence and Alexander Ludwig Won the Best Fight at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards

Good news! Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Alexander Ludwig were able to get the Best Fight Golden Popcorn at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. Josh and Alexander accept the award, Jennifer Lawrence is in Prague for her film Serena. Watch their acceptance speeches below:

Josh Hutcherson and Elizabeth Banks Want to Save Jennifer Lawrence from the Zombies!

From MTV:

If you could only save one of your favorite "Hunger Games" stars from a zombie attack, which one would it be? That's almost as hard a question as Team Peeta or Team Gale! Do you save Katniss herself, Jennifer Lawrence, the dreamy Liam Hemsworth or Woody Harrelson, the endearing mentor?

On the pre-show red carpet for the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, we caught up with Josh Hutcherson and Elizabeth Banks, who were initially torn between the actors.

"I might save Woody," Banks said. "No, he could save himself, maybe. He's already fought off zombies in one of my favorite zombie movies."

Banks is of course referring to "Zombieland," in which Harrelson battled against the walking dead with Jesse Eisenberg and Emma Stone. But since he proved himself fully capable, the actress picked a different co-star to save: "I probably would save Jennifer," she said.

Hutcherson nodded in agreement. "I think Jennifer, too," he said, "just because I think she means the most to the continuing of the story and to the fans."

"I'd want to be the savior of Katniss," Banks added.

"That'd be a good one to be," Hutcherson said.

Among the many nominations for "The Hunger Games," both actors have a shot at a coveted Golden Popcorn on their own. Banks is up for Best On-Screen Transformation and Hutcherson is vying for Best Male Performance.

"Little guy from Kentucky that could," the actor laughed when Sway mentioned his shot at the award. "It's crazy, man. It's crazy."

When we asked what it was like to see Banks' on-screen transformation, he called the process "insane." "The amount of conversation that went into the smallest details of, like, what color her eyebrows should be was astonishing," he said. "That whole process was way more than I would ever go through for a role."

Jennifer Lawrence Wins Best Female Performance at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards (With Acceptance Speech Video)

Jennifer Lawrence has won the Best Female Performance at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards! She's currently in Prague to shoot her flick Serena but she was able to give her thanks to MTV, Suzanne Collins, and the fans! She also joked that she can't eat the golden popcorn! funny girl.

The competition in the coveted category was stiff. In her first-ever Movie Awards win, Lawrence beat out heavyweights like Kristin Wiig ("Bridesmaids"), MTV Trailblazer Emma Stone ("Crazy, Stupid, Love"), Emma Watson ("Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2") and Rooney Mara ("The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo").

Lawrence couldn't be in attendance — she's shooting a movie in Prague — but she addressed the win in a pre-taped message. "Thank you, MTV and all the fans, for this award," she said. "I want to thank [author] Suzanne Collins for creating such a an iconic, powerful character in Katniss Everdeen. It's been such an honor to portray her and have audiences around the world embrace this movie."
While she appreciated the win, there was one thing she didn't appreciate: "I can't eat this," she joked of her popcorn-shaped prize.

But, Lawrence wasn't the only tribute taking home Movie Awards. Josh Hutcherson won Best Male Performance for playing Katniss' District 12 pal, Peeta Mellark. Like Lawrence, he beat out a "Harry Potter" star, the main wizard himself, Daniel Radcliffe, as well as Ryan Gosling for "Drive," Joseph Gordon-Levitt for "50/50" and Channing Tatum for "The Vow."

"The Hunger Games" tied with "Bridesmaids" for the most nominations at this year's show, including Best Cast, Best Fight and Best Kiss. It's also up for the night's big prize, Movie of the Year, where it faced off against "Bridesmaids," "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2," "The Help" and "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1."

Josh Hutcherson Wins Best Male Performance at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards (Video)

Let's celebrate! Josh Hutcherson won the Best Male Performance Golden Popcorn at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. Here's a recent article from MTV!

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — "The Hunger Games" stormed the box office to the tune of nearly $400 million, and at Sunday's MTV Movie Awards, the man fans know and love as Peeta Mellark clutched a different type of riches in his hand: a Golden Popcorn. Thanks to the massive number of fans who voted for him, Josh Hutcherson took home the award for Best Male Performance at the 21st annual awards show.

"Oh, my god. I've wanted to hold a Golden Popcorn since I was like 4 years old. This is incredible," he said from the stage, as he accepted the award from Emma Watson, Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller. "It's insane too, because every single one of those actors I admire and I want to be, so to even be up here is blowing my mind right now."

Hutcherson thanked "Hunger Games" author Suzanne Collins, director Gary Oldman, his producers like Nina Jacobson and Jon Kilik, Lionsgate and, of course, the fans.

"You guys are the best fans in the world," he gushed. "You're crazy and passionate and you make our job amazing."

The 19-year-old Kentucky-born actor joined an esteemed list of A-listers, guy's guys and heartthrobs who have taken home the esteemed award, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Denzel Washington, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise and Leonardo DiCaprio.

The former child star beat out a formidable array of challengers who all more than earned their places in the category: Daniel Radcliffe, Channing Tatum, Ryan Gosling and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Radcliffe was nominated for his final performance as the world's most beloved boy wizard in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2." Tatum cruised into the category for his role opposite Rachel McAdams in the tear-jerking romantic drama "The Vow," which also earned him a nomination for Best Kiss. Gosling, who won the Best Kiss category once upon a time (with McAdams) thanks to "The Notebook," was nominated for the darkly pensive and critically acclaimed drama "Drive." Gordon-Levitt, who we'll be seeing again in "The Dark Knight Rises" this summer, gave a nuanced performance in "50/50."

Anticipation for the next entry in the "Hunger Games" series, "Catching Fire," is already running high. Earlier in the week, "John Carter" star Taylor Kitsch shot down rumors that he'd play dreamy District 4 tribute Finnick Odair, something Robert Pattinson debunked himself, as well.

Katniss Everdeen Nominated as Best Hero at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards

MTV has added a new category named "Best Hero" at their 2012 MTV Movie Awards which will be aired on June 3, 2012. Find out more about the news:

Fans of onscreen heroics should get their fingertips ready to tear up Twitter because that's where they'll be voting for their favorite onscreen do-gooder in the new category of Best Hero for the 2012 MTV Movie Awards.

Beginning Tuesday (May 29) and right on through to the live show on June 3, fans can vote and track the nominees for Best Hero, presented by Sprint, via Twitter using hashtags associated with the nominees. Is your favorite hero a contender?

Check out the nominees:

»Harry Potter, "Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, Part 2 (#votepotter)
»Katniss Everdeen, "The Hunger Games" (#votekatniss)
»Thor, "Thor" (#votethor)
»Captain America, "Captain America" (#votecaptain)
»Jenko, "21 Jump Street" (#votejenko)

The new nods for "Harry Potter," "The Hunger Games" and "21 Jump Street" add to those films' already hefty tallies. And the nomination for Katniss of "The Hunger Games," played by Best Female Performance nominee Jennifer Lawrence, pushes that film ahead of "Bridesmaids" to become the most-nominated film this year with nine nominations. The bump gives "Deathly Hallows, Part 2" seven different chances to walk away with the Golden Popcorn (and remember, the franchise still unbelievably has never scored the coveted Best Movie prize despite several nominations over the years).

"21 Jump Street" now has six chances come next Sunday's show, while the nods for "Thor" and "Captain America" give both of those films their lone nominations for this year's awards. Still, both movies will no doubt be serious contenders for next year's awards given the amazing success and acclaim of "The Avengers," which features the titular heroes in addition to Iron Man, the Black Widow, Hawkeye and the Hulk.

The winner for Best Hero will be presented with the Golden Popcorn statue during the live show on MTV, Sunday, June 3 at 9 p.m. ET/PT from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.
What are you waiting for? Let's the Games to make #votekatniss trending in the Twitter world!

MTV's Tips for the Hunger Games Fans Who Will be Attending the 2012 MTV Movie Awards

Read on the following article from MTV on how the fandom should behave and dress for the upcoming MTV Movie Awards in June 2012.

Come June 3, "The Hunger Games" will enter a brand-new arena: the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. And this is one fiery debut for the film franchise, with eight nominations, including Movie of the Year, Best Cast, Best Female Lead (Jennifer Lawrence), Best Male Performance (Josh Hutcherson), Breakthrough Performance (Liam Hemsworth), Best On-Screen Transformation (Elizabeth Banks), Best Fight (Lawrence and Hutcherson vs. Alexander Ludgwig), and Best Kiss (Lawrence and Hutcherson).

Yep, clearly the kind of credentials that would make any sponsor drool.

Much like the titular death match, the Movie Awards can be a contentious battle, with franchise facing off against franchise, so preparation is key. In this week's Hobnobbing, we're taking on the role of mentor (step aside, Haymitch!) and offering some advice to the tributes. Here are our dos and don'ts for the big night:

DO Dress to Impress Effie

If there's one place to let your fashion freak flag fly, it's most certainly at an MTV awards show. (Am I right, Rose McGowan?) Of course, I'm not encouraging any tribute-tushy flashing or donning of flame-licked jumpsuits (such a fire hazard!), but this is a safe space to experiment with fanciful motifs and pieces of flair. For instance, I could see Lawrence sporting a shorter, cropped version of her red, orange and yellow interview dress, or Banks working her sky-high Effie heels.

DON'T Tease Us

Full disclosure: I personally think "Twilight" co-stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are a lock for a fourth Best Kiss statuette, but if the odds are indeed in Lawrence and Hutcherson's favor and they're named victors, I respectfully ask that they give us a show. None of this we-almost-maybe-kinda-sorta-kissed business. If you need some inspiration, Jennifer and Josh, take a page out of Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams' "Notebook."

DO Bring Your Bow and Arrow

The Movie Awards have a storied history of spoofery, and while I have no insider information as to what's in the works, Lawrence (if in attendance) would be wise to pack her trusty weapon. You never know when it will come in handy for a giggle-worthy gag! (Is this where I put in my request for Lawrence to shoot an apple off of Josh Horowitz's head?)

DON'T Drop Your Golden Popcorn
'Nuff said.

DO Bring News About "Catching Fire"

We're getting really hungry here, guys. Any scraps about the November 2013 release would be much appreciated. (Seriously, we'll retrieve them from a pile of slop and devour them. We're not proud!)
