New Still of Peeta and Effie in Catching Fire Plus Director Francis Lawrence on Catching Fire (Magazine Scans)

In the July 2013 issue of Empire Magazine, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was featured. The issue let's us see a still featuring Effie (Elizabeth Banks) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson). The scene is believed to be during President Snow's banquet.

Update: an HQ version of the above still is already released. Check it out below:

In the same issue, director Francis Lawrence also talks about the movie.

On the tone of Catching Fire
“Everything opens up in this one … I think that without the second and the third book, the first movie would feel like a relatively small story, but the mythology opens up and the stakes ratchet up. You realise that this is about so much more than one person and that a whole country and a rebellion and loads of people’s lives are at stake.”
On revisiting the Games and Tributes
“Any time leading up to the Games you’re gonna go to the Capitol, go through training, go through the chariots and the interviews. So we had to be really vigilant about how to make those moments feel different. These tributes are like war veterans. One of the great things about all the books is just the theme of the consequences of war. All these people, and they how it all in different ways, have some form of PTSD, and the ones that you get to know, you start to see the cracks in their veneer. And once we got into the arena – ours is tropical so the geography was wildly different – it was easy.”

Mockingjay Movie News Part 1 & 2 Synopsis Plus Filming in England

In press release, Lionsgate has rolled out the official synopsis of Mockingjay Part 1 & 2.

In MOCKINGJAY PARTS 1 & 2, we follow heroine Katniss Everdeen’s journey as she leads the districts of Panem in a rebellion against the tyrannical and corrupt Capitol. As the war that will determine the fate of Panem escalates, Katniss must decipher for herself who she can trust and what needs to be done, with everything she cares for in the balance.

On the other hand, The Sun has reported that the first part of Mockingjay will be filmed in England, particularly in Bristol. According to reports, some people were scouting the Ashton Gate estate, which was used as Nelson Mandela's house in the movie Only Fools and Horses. Sources say that:

Although Only Fools And Horses was set in Peckham, a lot of it was shot in Bristol.
“Hunger Games producers have earmarked the same estate as a possible location for the main battle scene, as well as a tower block area in south London.”

Francis Lawrence Reveals Additional Gale Scenes and Assuring That Catching Fire is Faithful to the Book

In an interview with SciFiNow, director Francis Lawrence was able to gush more about The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, revealing additional scenes for the character of Gale (to be played by Liam Hemsworth), the cornucopia, and the faithfulness of the movie to the book.

on the cornucopia:

“There is a moment we have in the arena when the gamemaker starts to spin the cornucopia, and I’m very proud of that,” Lawrence said. “We designed a very cool sequence and created a spinning island, and that’s going to be very, very cool. So that’s kind of fun and very unique. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

on adding more scenes for Gale:

One of the very first things we shot was a sort of goodbye before Katniss goes into the arena that I like a lot,” Lawrence said. “We actually shot it while we were in prep. We went out into a meadow, out in the mountains in north Georgia and shot this sequence over three or four hours, and I really like it.”

On the faithfulness of the film to the book:

“It’s a really faithful adaptation,” he told SciFiNow. “We definitely made some cuts, but we did it with Suzanne [Collins, author], and I would say that it’s very, very faithful.”

Jennifer Lawrence Talks Catching Fire Prep with Total Film

In the latest issue of Total Film, Jennifer Lawrence was able to mention her preparation for Catching Fire.

“If possible, there was even less preparation because I was like, ‘I’ve done this before’,” she said. “We had a lot of the same crew. Josh [Hutcherson] and Liam [Hemsworth] were there. Normally, when I do a movie, I’m meeting people for the first time, so it was amazing to be able to have the same group of people. It was so fun.”
