Hunger Games Illustrated Movie Companion, Tribute Guide and Tie-in Movie Edition Covers!

Okay, so there' still about three months before we get to see The Hunger Games in the silver screen, however, the team behind the film has provided sneak peeks for yet another 3 books about the story. It is not a prequel nor a sequel but books focusing on the first Hunger Games movie. 

The Hunger Games: The Official Illustrated Movie Companion, The Hunger Games: Tribute Guide, and The Hunger Games Movie-Tie In Edition will be released on February 7, 2012. These three upcoming books are to be published by Scholastic, which if you don't know is the sole publisher of the Hunger Games novels. You might want to book ahead to secure copies! The Official Illustrated Movie Companion will be about the casting, screenwriting, behind-the-scenes, costumes, and a lot of great stuff from the making of the first Hunger Games movie. Who would forget about the three main characters? The book will also feature the journey of our favorite Jennifer Lawrence as the ass-kicking mockingjay Katniss Everdeen, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta, the boy with the bread, and of course Liam Hemsworth as the tall, dark and handsome hunter Gale Hawthorne. Plus, it will also have a room for the District 12 community, the place where these three characters live. I wonder what the coal mining district looks like? Meanwhile, "The Hunger Games: Tribute Guide," will feature the 24 tributes of the 74th Hunger Games. It will  give us detail about the reaping or how these tributes were selected to participate in that deadly game. Moreover, the skills, weakness, and the districts of the 24 tributes (including Katniss and Peeta) will also be tackled. The book will also highlight the Tribute Parade, Training Center stations, tributes' weapon choices, and their Capitol experiences. Summary: 

After her rescue by the rebels, Katniss is convinced to become "the Mockingjay": a symbol of the rebellion against the ruling Capitol. As part of a deal, she demands that the leader of District 13, President Coin, grant immunity to all of the victors of the Hunger Games. She also demands the right to kill President Snow herself. In a daring rescue, Peeta and others previously captured are rescued from the Capitol. However, Peeta has been brainwashed into hating Katniss and tries to kill her upon their reunion in District 13.

The rebels take control of the districts and finally begin an assault on the Capitol itself, which Katniss is a part of. However, an assault on a "safe" Capitol neighborhood goes wrong and Katniss and her team flee further into the Capitol with the intent of finding and killing President Snow. Eventually, Katniss finds herself pressing on alone towards Snow's mansion, which has supposedly been opened to shelter Capitol children (but is actually intended to provide human shields for Snow). Afterwards, bombs placed in supply packages kill many of these children and a rebel medical team, including Katniss' sister, Prim.

Summary: 

After winning the 74th Hunger Games in the previous novel, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark return home to District 12, the poorest sector in the fictional country of Panem. On the day that Katniss and Peeta are to start a "victory tour" of the country, she is visited by President Snow. President Snow explains that he is angry at her for threatening to commit suicide with Peeta at the end of the Hunger Games, which permitted them both to win. President Snow tells Katniss that when she defied the Capitol, she created talk of rebellion in the districts. He threatens to kill her family and friends if she cannot prove to everyone in Panem that her act was not one of defiance, but that she was instead driven by an intense love for Peeta.

Summary: 

The Hunger Games takes place in an unidentified future time period after the destruction of North America, in a nation known as Panem. Panem consists of a wealthy Capitol and twelve surrounding, poorer districts. District 12, where the book begins, is located in the coal-rich region that was formerly Appalachia.

As punishment for a previous rebellion against the Capitol, every year, one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 from each district are selected by lottery and forced to participate in the Hunger Games, a televised event in which the participants, or "tributes," must fight to the death in a dangerous, outdoor arena, controlled by the Capitol, until only one remains. The story follows fatherless 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, a girl from District 12, who volunteers for the 74th Games in place of her younger sister, Primrose. Also participating from District 12 is Peeta Mellark, a boy whom Katniss knows from school and who once gave her bread when her family was starving.
