Taylor Swift and the Arcade Fire was able to win the Best Song Written for Visual Media for this year's Grammys. Safe and Sound featured on soundtrack of "The Hunger Games," which was entitled "Songs from District 12 and Beyond."

Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars were able to get Golden Globe nominations for their contribution to the "The Hunger Games" soundtrack, which is entitled "Safe and Sound." Unfortunately, they were not able to bring home the award since it was given to Adele for Skyfall. Anyway, Ryan Seacreast of E! Online was able to chat with Taylor Swift and the country sweetheart was able to describe the heart of the song. Find out below.
“This is a song that you wrote, not about yourself, because you’ve got to write about something else,” E!’s Ryan Seacrest pointed out to the Best Original Song nominee for “Safe and Sound” from The Hunger Games.
“For a change!” agreed Swift, looking lovely in deep purple Donna Karan Atelier, about the novelty of such an idea.
“It was interesting, because Lionsgate Films came to us and said, ‘We want you to write from Katniss’ point of view, we want you to completely understand her and come from where she’s coming from and we were given such an amazing opportunity to do that,” Swift gushed, “by Suzanne Collins, who wrote the book, and Jennifer Lawrence, who portrayed Katniss.”
“My cowriters, the Civil Wars and T Bone Burnett, were amazing,” she added. “We had this idea that we wanted the song to be about the empathy that goes into this film and the undertones of sympathy and human compassion that go along with such an incredible film with all this action and fighting in it.
“We wanted to highlight the fact that there’s a lot of heart beneath that.”
Good news tributes! Accordingto HitFix, The Hunger Games was able to get two nominations for Grammy Awards. The nominations include Arcade Fire's "Abraham's Daughter" and Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars' "Safe and Sound" for the Best Song Written For Visual Media category.
The odds might not be totally on our favor since the two songs are competing with each other but it is already a big smile to fandom to have such recognition. Congratulations to Taylor Swift, Arcade Fire, The Civil Wars, the writers and especially to producer T-Bone Burnett.
Let's hope that Catching Fire will get more recognitions!
On the other hand, THR has reported that Arcade Fire's "Abraham Daughter" was listed at the top 75 nominees for the 85th Academy Awards (OSCARS). Let's hope Arcade Fire will make it to the top list.

chart, having sold 175,000 copies in its first week according to
Nielsen SoundScan.
It's the first theatrical film soundtrack to top the chart since " Michael Jackson's
This Is It" bowed at No. 1 on the list dated Nov. 14, 2009.
"The Hunger Games" is the first multi-artist film soundtrack to
reach No. 1 since one week before Jackson, when "The Twilight Saga:
New Moon" rose from No. 2 to No. 1 in its second week on the tally.
All told, "The Hunger Games" is only the 16th soundtrack to debut at
No. 1 in the history of the Billboard 200 chart. (Those soundtracks
include film, TV and straight-to-video efforts.)
"The Hunger Games" set boasts an array of artists, including Taylor Swift, the Civil Wars, Arcade Fire, Maroon 5 and Miranda Lambert.
It's the companion album to the film of the same name, which
grossed $152.5 million at the U.S. and Canada box office last
weekend (March 23-25).
As for the rest of the Billboard 200's top 10, "The Hunger Games" is
the first of five debuts in the region. The next-highest debut is
the Shins' "Port of Morrow," which enters at No. 3 with 75,000. (It trails Adele's
former No. 1, "21," at No. 2 with 130,000 -- down 12%). The
Shins' last album, "Wincing the Night Away," launched at No. 2 with
118,000 in 2007.

Most of the songs I think are of folk/rock genre because of the artists. I was actually surprised to see KiD CuDi on the list since I think he's the only RnB/rap artist to be included on it. (I super love his "Erase Me" song.) I'm also looking forward to hear Miranda Lambert's song in the soundtrack and I think it's going to be great. What do you think of the soundtrack?

What it like working with Taylor Swift on your song together for “The Hunger Games”?
White: How that happened is we were out on the West
Coast touring. We had already worked on a song with T-Bone Burnett on an
original song for that soundtrack. Taylor had become fan and friend of
ours and kept in touch. When they found out we were close by and she and
T-Bone were getting ready to write a song for “The Hunger Games” they
decided to give us a call and see if we wanted to do it with them, which
worked out pretty well. We went to Los Angeles, went over, and a couple
hours later the song was finished, and maybe an hour and a half later
we had finished tracking guitars and all the vocals and went out and did
our show that night.

I'm excited to see this video and I hope it will include some clips from Hunger Games (fingers crossed ..please). But I really doubt that. Taylor Swift is entering the "Hunger Games" arena next week with her soundtrack video for "Safe & Sound"
in tow. The clip, which features the Civil Wars, will have its global
premiere Monday, February 13, at 7:54 p.m. ET on MTV during "MTV First:
Taylor Swift," followed by an exclusive chat with Swift herself.
After the video's premiere — which will also air live on MTV's
channels in Canada, Europe, Latin America, Australia, Asia and Africa —
the Grammy-nominated singer will sit down with MTV News' Sway Calloway
for a 30-minute interview on MTV.com. Fans of the superstar can get in
on the action by submitting questions via Twitter @MTVNews with the hashtags #AskTaylor or #MTVFirst.
CMT will debut "Safe & Sound" at 8 p.m. ET, the same time the
music video will debut exclusively online at MTV.com, CMT.com, VH1.com
and MTV's International sites. On Tuesday morning, VH1's "Big Morning
Buzz Live" will feature the video at 10 a.m. ET/PT.
"We're proud to be partnering with Taylor to introduce her new
music video to our worldwide audience to every screen known to man or
robot, while simultaneously providing multiple layers of editorial
content and context," Van Toffler, president of Viacom Music & Logo
Group, said in a statement. "This global premiere underscores our

Before the premiere, fans will be treated to exclusive content

Recently, the official Facebook page of the Hunger Games movie has revealed the release date and artwork for the film's soundtrack. The title of the soundtrack is "The Hunger Games: Songs from District 12 and Beyond." The soundtrack will be released on March 20, 2012 and will be distributed by Universal Republic. So far, we have heard of Taylor Swift's Safe and Sound and "Tomorrow Will Be Kinder" by the Secret Sisters. There are also news that Taylor will have another cut for the soundtrack, I wonder what would that be. Other artists (apart from Taylor Swift and Secret Sisters) who will render their voices for the soundtrack include Arcade Fire ("Horn of Plenty"), Decemberists ("One Engine") and Neco Case. The soundtrack will be produced by T-Bone Burnett.
I was kinda disappointed when I see the cover because I've seen this image already. I was hoping for something new maybe include Rue on it since she has a great part in the music stuff or perhaps a view from 12 or something. What do you think of the cover?

I really think the song is very very lonely, it is much lonelier than Safe and Sound. I love Safe and Sound better than this one. I am really looking forward to something alternative and lively you know like in the fight. Well, aside from that, I am really excited to see Jennifer Lawrence sing Rue's lullaby. The Hunger Games intensity is really getting me, I even dreamt that I am in the Arena with the stars.
Turns out the Secret Sisters aren’t so good at keeping secrets! Lydia and Laura Rogers, better known as the singing duo, revealed that one of their new songs will be featured on the Hunger Games soundtrack.
The song is called “Tomorrow Will Be Kinder,” which they explain fits the movie perfectly because while it comes from a dark place, it is about hope for a brighter tomorrow. A very appropriate theme!
The girls told TimesDaily.com: “We were in Australia when the tornadoes came through Alabama (in April 2011). It was so tough for us to be away from home when all that was going on. There, Lydia sat down and wrote a song stemming from that sadness, “Tomorrow Will Be Kinder.” Even though it came from a really dark circumstance, it is about looking forward to better days. Just recently, we found out that song is going to be on “The Hunger Games” soundtrack. We recorded that song with T Bone in New York.“
In other Hunger Games news, the studio has just launched the new Capitol Couture website (password: #lookyourbest) that promises fashion updates in an email newsletter that users sign up for.

The companion album will feature all newly written and recorded songs, based on themes embodied in The Hunger Games.
