Hunger Games Characters -- Know Them Well Here

Katniss Everdeen

Katniss Everdeen is the main protagonist and narrator of the Hunger Games trilogy. After her sister, Prim, is chosen to participate in the 74th Hunger Games, Katniss volunteers to take her place as the female Tribute from District 12.

Katniss Everdeen was born on May 8th, in District 12 and has been independent and feeding her family ever since she was eleven, after her father died due to a mine explosion. She resents her mother for succumbing to the depression caused by Mr. Everdeen's death, which left her unable to care for Katniss and her sister Prim.

Katniss was close to her father and spent time with him in the forbidden woods. She was taught by her father how to use the bow, which has been very useful to her during the Games as well as bringing food in their table by selling what she caught at the Hob, the black market of District 12.

At the age of 16, Katniss' name was entered 20 times into the reaping, due to the fact that she had taken out so many tesserae (food ration contaning grain and oil) for Prim, her mother, and herself. At that time, she volunteers to take Prim's place as the girl tribute of District 12 for the 74th Hunger Games alongside Peeta Mellark, who saved her life as well as her family from starvation.

Katniss has a very beautiful voice, in which she inherited from her late father.

She is an experienced hunter, with bow and arrows as her ultimate weapon.

Katniss has strong survivalist instincts due to her difficult past.

Katniss has straight long black hair, which she normally pulls back into a long braid, beautiful olive skin, and gray eyes.

She is small in stature and light for her age, being one of the smallest tributes in her games, but due to her outdoor life, she is strong for her size.

She is also known as "the girl on fire" during the Hunger Games; she earns this title from her fierce personality and the outfits created for her by her stylist, Cinna.

Katniss is very strong, stubborn and determined. Often, she will react first and ask questions later.

Katniss is slow towards relationships, not knowing about Gale's feelings for her and failing to recognize Peeta's.

Katniss was married to Peeta Mellark, having two kids. One was a boy with blonde hair like Peeta's and the other was a girl who has her dark hair.

Jennifer Lawrence will portray Katniss in the movie adaptation of the Hunger Games.

Peeta Mellark

Peeta is the male tribute, picked along with Katniss, to represent District 12 in the 74th annual Hunger Games.
He is a baker’s son so that makes him wealthier than most of the people in District 12 who are coal miners.
He goes to school with Katniss and earlier, saved her life by giving her bread when she was eleven.
Peeta has blue eyes, and is described by Katniss as being "medium height, stocky build, and has ashy blond hair that falls in waves over his forehead."
During a pre-game interview, he confesses his love for Katniss, making her look desirable to potential sponsors. Ever since he was was five years old, Peeta had a crush on Katniss, acknowledging that the birds did stopped when she sings.

Peeta's favorite color is orange, like the color of the sunset.

Peeta's main talents are baking, painting, speaking, camouflage and brute strength.

Peeta did not have a desirable childhood. He's always beaten by her mother along with his two brothers if they made a mistake, or did something she did not like.
He had his left leg amputated at the thigh and uses an artificial one, the result of an injury sustained at the end of the 74th Hunger Games.

She is blonde haired, blue eyes and described as ”very pretty and is as fresh as a raindrop, as lovely as the primrose for which she was named.”

She is twelve years old when her name was called as the tribute to represent District 12 in the 74th annual Hunger Games. Katniss volunteers to take her place despite her objections.

Katniss says Prim is ”the only person I’m certain I love and would do anything to protect her.”

Portia was the stylist of Peeta Mellark for the 74th and 75th Hunger Games.

She and Cinna were the brilliant stylists for District 12 and made the perfect team. Together, they created the idea of fire for the District 12 costumes and designed several fire themed outfits for their designated tributes.

It can be assumed that she was a fabulous stylist, like Cinna, as she was paired with him and co-creates the District 12 costumes.

After Clove was chosen for the female tribute for District 2, Cato lunged forward and volunteered to be the male tribute since he had confidence in his abilities and believed he could win.

He was the last tribute to die in the 74th Hunger Games, being clawed raw by muttations that the Gamemakers created with the dead tributes' DNA, and finally being shot in the head by Katniss as an act of pity.

Alexander Ludwig will play Cato in the Hunger Games movie.

Clove

Clove was the female tribute from District 2, and an expert at knife throwing.

Clove was strong, dangerous and powerful.

She has a strong hatred for Katniss due to her high score given by the Gamemakers and the fact that Katniss kept killing her allies.

Marvel was the male tribute from District 1 in the 74th Hunger Games.

As a Career Tribute, Marvel was strong and ruthless. During training, he showed great skill at spear throwing. He presumably trained for a lot of his pre-Games lifes like most tributes from his district.

Marvell killed Rue using a spear when she was tangled up in a trap he set up. Marvel was then killed by Katniss with an arrow shot at his neck.

Marvel was strong and rather tall, like all the other Careers.
Marvel was ruthless and brutal, though much unlike his fellow Career, Marvel seemed to be rather smart, he being the one to propose keeping Peeta in the Career Alliance so he could lead them to Katniss.

He and Clove were also the two who seemed to calm down Cato most often when he got antagonized or lost control of himself.

Jack Quaid will play Marvel in the Hunger Games movie.

Glimmer will be played by Leven Rambin in the Hunger Games movie.

Foxface is the nickname that Katniss gave the female tribute from District 5 in The Hunger Games.

Foxface never speaks throughout the book, even though Katniss heard her laugh after the Careers' food supply was destroyed and she participated in the interviews, where Katniss said she was "sly and elusive," but it is obvious that her goal is to survive.

Quick and clever, she dashes in and out of traps to collect what she needs without bloodshed or contact with anyone.

She outwitted everyone, even the Career alliance, but in the end Peeta Mellark accidentally defeated her by leaving nightlock he intended to eat at his and Katniss's last camp.

She has fire-red hair, amber eyes and sharp, fox-like features.

Katniss believes that if the tributes were to be given a written test, Foxface would be the smartest.

Jacqueline Emerson will play Foxface in the Hunger Games movie.

Katniss at first views Finnick as extremely flirtatious and using a "seductive purr" when he speaks. She is unable to read his motives when they are in the arena together, but believes that she would be better off killing him sooner rather than later, until he revives Peeta.

Physically, he is described as being extremely handsome. He is tall, muscular, and athletic, with tan skin, bronze-colored hair, and "incredible" sea green eyes, making him very popular in the Capitol. He has tons of girl's that love him in captiol

Wiress was a female tribute from District 3. She competed in and won a previous, unspecified Hunger Games, possibly the 46 to the 49th, and then participated again in the 75th Games. In the second set of Games, she was at first rejected by many to be an ally, except for Katniss Everdeen who wanted her as one.

In Catching Fire, Wiress and Beetee are both described as having ashen skin and black hair.

Wiress was described to be shy by Katniss, who mentions that in the training room, she seldom completed her sentences, and Beetee had to finish them for her. When she, along with Johanna and Beetee, team up with Finnick, Katniss, and Peeta, she could only recite comments and songs about clocks - referring to the clock shaped arena.
