Cinna Capitol Couture Spotlight for Catching Fire

Our favorite stylist Cinna (the man who set the Girl on Fire) has been featured on the latest post from Capitol Couture

As Capitol Couture says:

For Cinna, fashion isn’t simply a career. It’s a calling. “I always channel my emotions into my work,” he says.

When it was announced that he would be styling the tributes of District 12 in the 74th Hunger Games, many Capitol observers were confused; just who was this mysterious stylist taking over District 12 duties?

Yet for Cinna it was a chance to prove himself, and this unique opportunity has paid off in spades. After the unprecedented dual victory of Katniss and Peeta, he has become the Capitol’s most sought after designer, his iconic “girl on fire” dress quickly making him a household name. In fact, many of the Capitol’s fashion elite wouldn’t be caught dead wearing anyone else these days.

And what surprising inspiration does Cinna credit for that fiery creation? The coal mines of Katniss’s District 12: “What do we do with coal?” he asks. “We burn it.”

As the entire Capitol, and the more fashionable District citizenry, awaits his next move with bated breath, the fashion phenom is playing things close to his fabulously dressed chest. When asked what’s in store for the newly-minted style guru, Cinna’s been known to simply shrug and smile coyly – silently reassuring us that whatever it is will leave us awestruck. Until then, keep twirling…

Haymitch and Cinna Capitol Couture Portraits for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Yesterday, we have witnessed the portraits of Effie Trinket and Caesar Flickerman from Capitol Couture. Now, it is Haymitch and Cinna's time to shine. See the photos below. These were released via People and IGN. Thanks Lionsgate!

Who's portrait will be next? Will we be able to see Portia and the rest of the stylists? Or perhaps President Snow or the newly appointed head gamemaker Plutarch? I was actually surprised to see Haymitch! You know, I actually expect that only people from the Capitol will be featured like last year.

How to Get Cinna's Gold Eyeliner

In this post, let me share to all of you how you could copy Cinna's gold eyeliner, his trademark in the books/movie. The tips below were from Ve, the makeup artist in her Hollywood Life interview. Good luck to your cosplay!

Surprisingly, Ve didn’t actually use an eyeliner to create the gold line. Instead, she used MAKE UP FOR EVER Metal Powder in #1 Sunflower Gold. Using a powder product as an eyeliner is a great way to create an incredibly pigmented shade that won’t budge.

If you want to copy Cinna’s liner, simply dip a small, pointed eyeliner brush into a bit of water and then into the Metal Powder. Carefully draw on your line and enjoy the look!

Let's Get To Know More About Cinna, Katniss' Stylist

Capitol Couture recently featured Cinna, the stylist for our favorite District 12 Katniss Everdeen. Read the article below.

By now, avid Hunger Games fans are well aware that Katniss Everdeen is District 12’s first volunteer Tribute in decades - but she won’t be the only volunteer on Team 12 at the 74th Hunger Games! Meet Cinna, the hotly-tipped young stylist who — get this — actually requested to work with the D12 Tributes. We have to say, this brave if not odd entreaty has been paying off — everyone from Mayor Luna to Seneca Crane has been clamoring to see what Cinna’s got in store for 12!

But is it really that surprising? After all, Cinna is no rookie Tribute when it comes to the arena of Haute Couture. After a number of years studying under revered Capitol designer and fashion fixture Judianna Makovsky, he was able to open his own downtown atelier. From there, he has been designing everything from gowns and headpieces to club-collar shirts and ultra-sleek anoraks for our city’s elite under an eponymous label for almost a decade. He is known to go deep conceptually - constantly breaking new ground with innovative textiles, materials and even chemical compounds - applying them to everything from gowns and headpieces to club-collar shirts and ultra-sleek anoraks. His designs and ensembles have been described by many as elaborate, unique to their wearer and awash with emotion.

For such a calm and collected guy, we find the effusiveness of Cinna’s design captivating. He told us, “For as long as I can remember, I have always channeled my emotions into my work.” With a wink, he quietly added, “I think it’s safest that way.”

Speaking of safe, if you haven’t been glued to your TV set like a normal person this time of year, Cinna can almost always be seen in the simplest of all-black ensembles accented exclusively by his signature Liquid Skyliner eyeliner (which, we might add, totally brings out the adorable gold flecks in his eyes). His minimalism makes even President Snow’s execu-chic style seem outrageous. When asked about his personal, visibly understated wardrobe and disregard for Capitol fads, Cinna said, “I put so much passion and creativity into my work that sometimes there’s not much leftover for myself.”

And of course we couldn’t sit down with Cinna without asking him the questions on every Hunger Games fan’s mind: What does he have in store for the D12’s Tributes at the Opening Ceremonies? True to form, a sly smile crept coyly across his face as he said, “Let’s just say, when you play with fire, you don’t always get burned.”

Sounds like Katniss and Peeta are going to be looking hot at the Opening Ceremonies. What do you think, Citizens?

What do you think of this? Cool isn't. I bet gold will be this year's color.

Hunger Games Movie New Still Featuring Katniss, Peeta, and Cinna Before the 74th Hunger Games Tribute Parade

Hey, what's up? I've found out that Entertainment Weekly (EW), courtesy from Lionsgate, has rolled out a brand new still featuring the tributes of District 12 for the 74th Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, along with their stylist, Cinna. Look at the image below and you'll say that it perfectly fits what was written in the first book -- a pair of black tight clothing that represents the coal and mining life of District 12. Read what director Gary Ross has told EW about the Tribute Parade costume and the person behind it:

“This is one of those moments where Cinna’s character syncs up with the creativity of our costume designer Judianna Makovsky,” says Ross. (Makovsky earned Oscar nominations for her work on Ross’ previous movies Pleasantville and Seabiscuit.) “What Cinna was trying to do was create something that came out of District 12, out of a coal mining world, with a fresh, bold look to it. So Judianna went to this wonderful black reflective material that glistened like coal or graphite and would obviously work well in the Tribute parade where Katniss becomes the Girl on Fire.”

I'm pretty excited how they will interpret Katniss' fire costume in the Tribute parade. Are you with me?
