Willow Shields Excited to Grow Up With Prim in The Hunger Games Movies (VIDEO)

Willow Shields, the lucky girl who plays Katniss' younger sister Prim in the Hunger Games movie series, has chatted with MTV during the 2012 Comic Con International in San Diego, CA. In the interview, she mentioned that she has no idea on the exact filming date for Catching Fire, adding that she hasn't receive any script yet. She was also able to cite a scene in Catching Fire that she is looking forward to film. She was also excited to grow up on screen as her character Prim would be. Here is MTV's interview:

Willow Shields

"We heard rumors about fall, but we're not exactly sure when," she told MTV News at San Diego Comic-Con. "It's still a secret from me too."

There isn't a script yet (at least that Shields has seen), but she said just reading the novel version of "Catching Fire" has given her a good idea of what to expect. Even though she's not sure what will or won't make the final cut, Shields knows the scene she's most excited about.

"It's a scene where Haymitch, Peeta and I are sitting around in our new house and we're stuffing our faces with candy and making fun of Katniss, and I just think it would be a really fun scene to do because we're just goofing around and having fun," Shields said. "And although Katniss gets mad at us, we're still having fun, so it would be a fun scene to shoot plus I would be able to shoot a scene with Josh and Woody Harrelson, so that would be really fun."

Shields has three more "Hunger Games" movies to look forward to, so we couldn't resist asking what she's most looking forward to in her character arc. Like Daniel Radcliffe, Kristen Stewart and many before her, Shields is just happy to grow at the same rate as her character.

"I'm excited to grow up with Prim's character, because, you know, I have basically three more movies, but I'm going to be 15 or 16 by the end, but I started off when I was 10," she said. "So it's going to be really interesting to go start to finish and just to see what a difference my acting has become, and just growing up with that character is going to be really fun."

Catching Fire Will be Filmed in Atlanta and Kauai, Hawaii (Update), New Production Designer

I have two Catching Fire filming location news for you. In case you haven't heard, it's been reported that Catching Fire will be shot in Atlanta and then in Kauai, Hawaii. As for the Atlanta filming, Kate Emery, an Art PA and Florida State University Film School alum, has confirmed that she has been asked to be involved in the art department for the Catching Fire production. Here is her statement at the Florida State University Film School Network blog:

From Kate Emery (MFA 10) “Not more than an hour after the numbers officially came in for the Hunger Games opening weekend, production designer Philip Messina asked me to come back for the sequel, Catching Fire. I’ve been on as Art PA for about three months now and I’m having a blast. We’ll be in preproduction for a few more months and then we’re going to shoot in Atlanta. Francis Lawrence (I am Legend, Like Water for Elephants) is directing and our new costume designer is Trish Summerville (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). Together with Phil they’re taking the story in an exciting cinematic direction. I’m thrilled to be so involved in the project and can’t wait to see our work spring to life in Atlanta! Look for Catching Fire on November 22, 2013”.

Thrish Summerville won the a Costume Designers Guild Award for her work on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. She would presumably be taking the place of The Hunger Games costume designer Judianna Makovsky. (Thanks thehob.org for the heads up!)

On the other hand, the official website of Kauai, Hawaii has confirmed that there were several film scouts who were considering the island for the movie. Here is their statement:

With the recent big screen hits “The Descendents” starring George Clooney and “Pirates Of The Caribbean On Stranger Tides” with Johnny Depp, today’s announcement doesn’t come as too much of a surprise. Hollywood movie scouts have chosen the Garden Island of Kauai as one of the filming locations for the movie based on the trilogy by Suzanne Collins, “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”

Film scouts have been searching out locations within the Hawaiian Islands and have zeroed in on Kauai. With the natural beauty, rugged terrain, isolated valleys, lush green jungles, turquoise waters and wildlife, it is no wonder Hollywood has again made a smart choice in picking Kauai.

“Catching Fire,” Finnick Odair and the Third Quarter Quell is set to hit theaters late November 2013.

Mockingjay Will Be Split in Part 2, Release Dates are November 21, 2014 and November 20, 2015

In case you haven't heard, there have been talks last year that Mockingjay will be split into two parts in the big screen as what other major franchises were like Harry Potter and Twilight. According to Deadline, the first part of Mockingjay will be released on November 21, 2014 and last part would be on the 20th of November 2015. In case you don't know, Catching Fire will be released on the November 22, 2013. So basically, the last three films will have the same month in terms of their release dates.

Just so you know you missed it, Catching Fire has already have its Plutarch Heavensbee in the person of Philip Seymour Hoffman. I know, they have the same initials and coincidentally, Jena Malone also has the same initials as Johanna Mason. As of today, Jena Malone is not officially confirmed to play Johanna. Finnick, Mags, and others are yet to be cast too. Let's just wait until Lionsgate releases another statement publicly.
