Aerial View of the Cornucopia and Tribute Parade Sets in Atlanta

According to Perez Hilton, there are a couple of aerial shots that were placed on the Google Maps. The shots featured the sets of the Cornucopia and the Tribute Parade that are used in "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" in Atlanta. Take a look at the image below:

Catching Fire Might Be Filmed at the Atlanta Motor Speedway

-->

Our friends at thehob.org, has reported that set construction is underway from GGX productions at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. There were also shipping containers, stone building pieces, and bleachers found on the site. I agree that the speedway is a good spot to shoot the Tribute Parade. Anyway, we hope we could get some set photos from the Speedway too.

Catching Fire Set Photos Leaked - The Victory Tour, Quarter Quell, and District 6 and District 12 Reaping

A lot of Catching Fire set photos have been leaked today. The photos revealed the Victory Tour stage and there's also the Quarter Quell stage. We get to see Josh Hutcherson, Jennifer Lawrence, and Woody Harrelson at the Victory Tour stage but they are not wearing their real costume. I think this is a rehearsal for an upcoming shoot. Jennifer Lawerence is also seen wearing a robe to hide her costume. By the way, the Victory Tour stage is filmed at the Delkab Peachtree Airport in Atlanta. This is a small airport and not the major one in Atlanta.

Thanks to Twitter user SCtoGA1121 for this photo.

There were also some pictures that revealed the XXVII banners in the stage, meaning the 75th Hunger Games. The set is still filmed at the same airport. They are using the same stage but changed different banners for the set maybe to save cost. The photos below is still unclear if it is a Reaping set or not because usually, Reapings are done in the Justice Building.

The above photos were from various Instagram users via Hypabale. Thanks guys, you know who you are.

On the other hand, Hypable also released exclusive photos of Catching Fire set, which is still at the said airport. They are claiming that these photos are scenes from the District 6 Reaping. Like what I said, Reapings are done in the Justice Building and I don't know why they are thinking that it is a set for the District 6 Reaping. Perhaps, this an added scene that is not stated on the book. We all know that it is not really necessary to follow everything that is written on the book because books and films are different in their own ways.

You can see at the photos below the unnamed tributes from District 6 (Transportation),which are to be played by Justin Hix and Megan Hayes.

On the other hand, there were also photos of Catching Fire set tents and the alleged District 12 Reaping set. Here are the photos

Thanks to various users who sent these (via thehob.org).

Catching Fire Filming & Locations Update: Cameras Might Start on September 10, North Carolina Might Not be on the Scout's List

If you have been keeping track of the filming locations for "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," you probably heard that the movie might be shot in Atlanta and Kauai, Hawaii. Talks about filming in North Carolina have been vague.

The Hunger Games used North Carolina's Henry Mill Village as a set for District 12 including Katniss' house but now news has it that the place is already not in its former glory. Accordingly, some people have not been so respectful of the place because there were lots of vandalism reported. Recently, I have seen that a fan uploaded her photo outside the Mellark Bakery (the spot where Josh Hutcherson stood) and that "PASTRIES" has not become "ASTRIES." Obviously, someone took out the P! Ashvegas recently reported that Catching Fire will not be filmed in North Carolina. According to them:
Sources we trust tell Ashvegas that the second installment of The Hunger Games trilogy,Catching Fire, will not be filmed in North Carolina. Parts of the first movie were filmed in and around WNC.
Russ Bowen, a news anchor from North Carolina, has tweeted that the owner of Henry Mill Village hasn't heard from Lionsgate despite their conversation in early spring. He added that preproduction has already started in Chatahoochee Avenue in Atlanta.

NOTE: These are all rumors. There's no official announcement from Lionsgate yet.

Celebuzz Confirmed that Catching Fire's Victor Village Might Be Filmed in Atlanta

According to Celebuzz, the set for the Victor Village (the place that is provided by the Capitol for the winners of the Hunger Games) might be filmed in Atlanta. Celebuzz has claimed that lots of scouts have been considering the state (which has also been the filming locations for The Walking Dead, Vampire Diaries, and What to Expect When You're Expecting) to shot some major scenes in Catching Fire. It is not yet clear if Lionsgate will still use North Carolina for some Distirct 12 scenes. Still, there has been no official announcements yet from Lionsgate on the exact filming locations as well as for casting major roles in the sequel. So far, Philip Seymour Hoffman has been officially in as head gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee in "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire." Mockingjay will be split in two parts and will be released in November 2014 and November 15, respectively.

Catching Fire Will be Filmed in Atlanta and Kauai, Hawaii (Update), New Production Designer

I have two Catching Fire filming location news for you. In case you haven't heard, it's been reported that Catching Fire will be shot in Atlanta and then in Kauai, Hawaii. As for the Atlanta filming, Kate Emery, an Art PA and Florida State University Film School alum, has confirmed that she has been asked to be involved in the art department for the Catching Fire production. Here is her statement at the Florida State University Film School Network blog:

From Kate Emery (MFA 10) “Not more than an hour after the numbers officially came in for the Hunger Games opening weekend, production designer Philip Messina asked me to come back for the sequel, Catching Fire. I’ve been on as Art PA for about three months now and I’m having a blast. We’ll be in preproduction for a few more months and then we’re going to shoot in Atlanta. Francis Lawrence (I am Legend, Like Water for Elephants) is directing and our new costume designer is Trish Summerville (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). Together with Phil they’re taking the story in an exciting cinematic direction. I’m thrilled to be so involved in the project and can’t wait to see our work spring to life in Atlanta! Look for Catching Fire on November 22, 2013”.

Thrish Summerville won the a Costume Designers Guild Award for her work on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. She would presumably be taking the place of The Hunger Games costume designer Judianna Makovsky. (Thanks thehob.org for the heads up!)

On the other hand, the official website of Kauai, Hawaii has confirmed that there were several film scouts who were considering the island for the movie. Here is their statement:

With the recent big screen hits “The Descendents” starring George Clooney and “Pirates Of The Caribbean On Stranger Tides” with Johnny Depp, today’s announcement doesn’t come as too much of a surprise. Hollywood movie scouts have chosen the Garden Island of Kauai as one of the filming locations for the movie based on the trilogy by Suzanne Collins, “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”

Film scouts have been searching out locations within the Hawaiian Islands and have zeroed in on Kauai. With the natural beauty, rugged terrain, isolated valleys, lush green jungles, turquoise waters and wildlife, it is no wonder Hollywood has again made a smart choice in picking Kauai.

“Catching Fire,” Finnick Odair and the Third Quarter Quell is set to hit theaters late November 2013.
